Frequently

Asked Questions

What does Residency Advising include?

Individualized guidance and strategy on the US residency system and how to match into your dream residency, including a discussion about the USMLE exams, research, US clinical experiences, and everything else you need to build a competitive residency application. This plan is based on where you are in your journey, your achievements thus far, the specialty you are applying for, the programs you are targeting, and any additional information obtained before the consultation. The residency advising sessions are very flexible and tailored to the needs of the applicants. If the applicant wants the advisor to focus on discussing a particular topic or question, we will also do that.

How will I select my advisor?

After you sign up, we will send you a list of available advisors and you will choose the advisor that best fits your needs. We have a list of advisors from different specialties, research interests, and backgrounds.

How does the process work?

After you register, we will send you a catalog of our expert advisors to choose from and resources you can utilize to prepare for your session. Then, we will connect you with your preferred advisor and set up the advising session based on your availability. You will meet virtually with your advisor and follow up as needed.

Where do sessions take place?

All tutoring is done one-on-one via online platforms (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, etc). This allows the most convenience for both the tutor and the student. Students have limited time, and this eliminates the need to travel.

Do you offer more than one hour of Residency Advising?

Yes, we offer as many hours as you need. You can buy the packages in increments of 1, 5, or 10 hours. If you are interested in more than 20 hours, please reach out to us at info@tmg.wpcodix.com and we will create a custom package for you.

Are advising sessions refundable?

We offer a 100% money back guarantee on all our Residency Advising packages. If you are not satisfied with your advisor or the session after the first hour you can either request a new advisor or request a refund and we will refund your money no questions asked.

If more than one session is completed, refunds will not be issued. If you are not satisfied with your advisor, please reach out to us at info@tmg.wpcodix.com

What if you do not show up to a scheduled session

Advising sessions can be rescheduled up to 24 hours before the scheduled session. If you miss a scheduled session without prior notification, the session will be considered completed given the busy schedules of our advisors. Cancelations within 24 hours will only be considered in extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

If I buy multiple hours of advising sessions, can I do each session with a different advisor?

Yes, you can choose a different advisor for each session. However, we recommend you do at least 2-3 hours with the same advisor for optimal tracking of feedback and progress.

What is the best time to start Residency Advising?

The earlier the better. Matching into a residency in the US does not happen overnight. It is the result of many years of work. The sooner you are on the right track, the easier it becomes to match. If you are not sure whether residency in the US is the right option for you, we will also help you with that.

Can I change my advisor?

If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your advisor we will match you up with someone who better fits your goals and understanding.
